Developed at Anna Pannai, Kudumianmalai (Pudukkottai), KM-1 is a bushy variety grown from seeds. It starts bearing fruits within 6 months and can be harvested for up to 2–3 years. Yields around 400–500 pods per year.
Created at the Horticultural Research Station, TNAU, Periyakulam, PKM-1 is seed-grown and reaches 4–6 meters in height. It begins flowering within 90–100 days, with harvesting starting at around 160–170 days.
